I was tasked to create a photo series of my choice. I have this phrase that motivates me when I'm in a design or photography slump, and it was the phrase: "Explore To Create". Which means no matter where you are or what you have, you can always create something, all it takes is a little bit of exploring to find it, and so "Explore To Create" was born.
With this series of photos, I used a variety of places from my recent travels that year, from as far West as Hawaii, Vancouver, to Niagara and Montreal. I was was then able to make a limited edition print version of the photobook, featuring full spreads of my travels. All edited through Adobe Lightroom where I have had a lot of experience editing before and I had a feeling and emotion I wanted to evoke in these photos by color grading them, and editing them in a certain way to blend the photos together as if they were all taken at the same time, maybe even the same place. I wanted to make the world a little smaller, and easier to grasp and see.
It took awhile to find a way to blend together different photos from across North America, but I found a way to create an inviting, exciting and happy tone to the series, with the main feature edit being high contrasts that pull all of the photos together as a series. It was difficult to narrow down the photos to a select few to feature in the photo book, but ultimately the final limited print came out as a masterpiece.
All the photos were taken by me through a Nikon D5500, 18-55mm lens, and edited through Adobe Lightroom.
